Just my answer

I've been agnostic for over 20 years but that doesn't give me the right to ridicule the beliefs of others. I'm annoyed by the whinning of those atheists and agnostics who feel threatened by the religious views of others and who seek to remove religion from public life. Sounds like they're insecure in their beliefs. Those who ridicule the religious beliefs of others, especially for political reasons like we've seen in the last few weeks, don't seem to grasp that they are forever alienating themselves. That's hardly a smart way to win elections.

I live less than a mile from Focus on the Family headquarters (I pass it every day) and not too many miles from one of the coauthors of the "Left Behind" series. There are a lot of very religious people here. Despite that, they have no measurable impact on my life. I respect their right to their beliefs and they've never tried to influence mine.

I'm skeptical about the existance of a soul. To me, we're born, we live our time, and then we're gone. What matters is what we do with the time we have.

Space exploration is a continuation of humanity's natural inclination to see what's on the other side of the hill. It gives us the opportunity to learn new things and discover new worlds. The literal biblical fundamentalists have not had any effect on the space program that I know about. I've heard that a few of them don't like NASA's Origins program because they think it supports evolution, but their grumbling hasn't amounted to anything tangible.
