Iran has some uranium deposits but they are insignificant compared to the enormous African deposits. Given that Iran is one of the world's major petroleum suppliers, there is no economic reason for Iran to generate electricity from nuclear power. The only logical reason for Iran to develop nuclear technology is for military application. This same argument applied towards Iraq. The total illogic of Iraq using nuclear technology for nonmilitary application did not prevent the Soviets and French from selling Saddam Hussein nuclear technology. Obviously the Soviets sold Saddam nuclear technology to further their various economic and military objectives. What excuse did the French have?
