What if the 747 with the laser mounted in its nose was only a test platform for a much greater leap in technology...

R.L. could get a free ticket to space to work on such a beast!

I wonder if R.L.'s left-leanedness would force him to be against it's creation, even if it meant that he could find a good paying job that would require him to frequently travel into space to maintain the expensive hardware.
