- apparantly having no idea we would have to provide security in Iraq, after an invasion.
- apparantly having no idea there whould be serious resistance.
- apparantly having no idea that there would be explosives involved that were not produced in a munitions factory or were but were not used exactly for their originally intended purpose.
You know, I've seen one hell of a lot of 20-20 hindsight on issues like the IEDs and the extent of the insurgency, but most of the predictions seem largely anecdotal. To hear the Left talk now, EVERYBODY knew exactly what would happen when we invaded Iraq, except our stupid military.
Any evidence of this? Real people in positions of authority who claimed that the biggest problem would not be the Iraqi army, but Baathist leftovers fighting a guerilla war long after Saddam was out of power? That explosives reworked from artillery shells and used to blow up roads would become a primary tactic? Got links?
Reminds me of all those people who said after 9/11 that it was OBVIOUS that al Qaeda was going to fly jumbo jets into skyscrapers, although most of the memos and other items they quoted turned out to say no such thing.
