Japan still doesn't teach schoolkids much about their activities, especially in places like China, during WWII (and yes, the Chinese are still pissed about it!) The Rape of Nanking was only one such incident. Following the American invasion in 1944, the Japanese killed approximately 100,000 Filipinos, especially around Manila. Their Unit 741 tested biological warfare weapons on prisoners, including Americans, and there are documented cases where they dissected people without anestesia while they were still alive. The Japanese used chemical and biological weapons in China several times during the war. According to a History Channel program, they were very close to launching a dirty radioactive bomb against San Francisco, set for September of 1945.
