You are right about our symbiotic relationship with our planet .. even going to the moon was incredibly risky and that fact shows what geniuses the people at NASA, Grumman etc. were in the 60s .. and it shows that we're getting out there to explore, go beyond our natural boundaries, instead of just colonizing new places. That MAY happen, but we shouldn't be focussed on that right now ..
I might rejoin the Mars Society for that reason: it's focussed on the very next step, and for the right reasons ..
