This tsunami is in a way just a dry run for what will eventually happen.
We are indeed fortunate it did not impact the Chinese coast. If it were to shut down the Chinese ports, our trade lifelines would be severely damaged, and the total world economy would suffer greatly.
As terrible as this tragedy is, our interdependant global culture is going to have some strong challenges ahead.
