If I'm not careful, I'll turn into a Jeff Bell.

I've seen this happen many times, i.e. young bright eyed bushy tailed aerospace engineers slowly getting turned into plodding cynical drones. It's very unpleasant to watch. I sometimes wonder if the "system" isn't designed to do this. This could be part of my own "transformed" view of the situation. The promise and hope of Space Exploration is dangled in front of the younger generation as bait to seduce them into becoming military engineers (aerospace technology is all dual use). Pissed off, cynical aerospace engineers have fewer issues with designing plastic shrapnel land mines or VX dispersal cannisters. The fallacy with this theory is the whole aerospace industry is dying and not just the Space Program.

Anyway Jeff Bell is useful. He's sort of a negative example, i.e. don't get too cynical or you'll end up like him.
