So it isn't likely to come up. No academic institution would touch him, and neither would anyone else in the cultural elite.
Go ahead. Try to think of anyone in a position of real influence in either America or Europe who is a professed Nazi. Nobody, right? And a damn good thing, too.
Marxist/communist? Different story, isn't it?
The basic philosophies of government and the role of the individual and the State are almost identical for the National Socialists and the communists. Their methods are similar, the philosophies based on the same collectivist roots, and the results are the same. That Hitler created extermination camps while Stalin created "only" gulags and the mass Ukrainian starvations isn't the point.
The Left has spent many years trying to place their beloved Marxism on an opposite political poll from Nazism, and a surprising number of people still buy this. Nobody who looks at this rationally, and especially nobody who lived under either system, is fooled for a minute.
Communism across the globe has murdered far more human beings than Nazism ever did. That it wasn't done in gas chambers doesn't make that much difference to me. I spit on both philosophies, and any other honest person would as well.
