Now you do have a point - somewhat. Opposition to HE in some areas is fairly recent.
Some of it may be due to rabid-environmentalism, the majority isn't.

Ask yourself why HE dams have become recently "bad".
Hint - it aint because humans built it and it changes the landscape.
