Conservatives

The "standing army" is an interesting controversy among many conservatives and libertarians, and I don't have an easy answer for that question, and the discussion would be worth a couple of threads in itself. Sure as hell most of the Founding Fathers did not like the idea of a standing army, and said so.

I strongly opposed the prescription drug benefit, both the Democratic and Republican versions. The U.S. needs another entitlement like a guy in a sinking rowboat needs an anvil thrown in. But nobody out there was offering the "none of the above" option.

I am not a carbon copy of George W. Bush, regardless of how much easier that might make it for those who don't want to work too hard at analysis.

As far as sharing toys, I like to think American citizens are not children, and that real generosity does not involve guns.

Believe it or not, it is possible to construct a consistent philosophy and stick to it.
