Pretend for a minute that instead of me being here in Philly, and you in Ohio that we were actually in - lets pick a random example - Baghdad.
Now pretend that you and I were having an argument like this one, but instead of just posting on Flame, I called up the Iraqi Security Forces and told them that you were in league with the Baathists and were planting IEDs on the airport road. For good measure, I put a small piece of shrapnel I found under your apartment door.
Alas, when they come knocking - well, I saw knocking when I mean sledge-hammering - and find you there with your little piece of shrapnel, they also manage to forget about due process and take you to the cells.
They know you're a terrorist. They've been told and they have proof. Good luck to you. Between the wire cutters, cheese graters, acid, batteries and bullets, you may need it.
Now also apply this due process to they guy they arrested for shop-lifting but decided to pin some more stuff on.
Apply it to the guys picked up on the street for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Apply it to bystanders at a car-bombing.
In your quaint little world, when there isn't a war going on, and people can apply due process with all the diligence and time they can muster, do the police ever arrest the wrong suspect?
Ignore it if you like, whatever helps you sleep at night.......

- Why the demand for "due process" for terrorists in Iraq is absurd.
- Cuz terrorists don't always have a "I am a Terrorist" tattoed on their foreheads.
- As long as we are willing to pay the price.
- When you catch them in a firefight, what is to figure out?
- Because you dont always catch them in a firefight that's why.
- re: Because you dont always catch them in a firefight that's why.
- And the people caught in a dragnet, or falsely accused by a personal enemy, what do you call them?
- Well, if they weren't so busy killing
