Because he is a jackass. I visit Vancouver or Victoria there every so often (lived in BC for 5 years) and while there visit Canadian Mars Society members. From them I hear second hand rumors about Cowing. Nobody who worked with Cowing respects him because he is a jerk of royal proportions.
This should not surprise anyone who has heard the crap he does or read the stuff he prints which he gets from his snitches. He could write articles with this information and protect the people involved, but instead he just cuts and pastes everything and then puts little snide remarks under each snippet. Doesn't matter to him what this does to the originator's life or that he should have gotten their permission before printing...he is a jerk!
