And if the point is that whatever the US does is pure white and lily clean, that strafing a village for 4 hours is "collateral damage" and just fine, and a suicide bomber is reprehensible terrorism, that does escape me.

Both are reprehensible terrorism. The use of deadly force requires more than a guess as to the target.
