I've developed an armored hide versus the waves of management BS I've had to take deadly seriously to keep my job. Be it SDM-70, six sigma, TQM, ZTM... can't remember most of these horrors' names. And the companies I worked for invested millions of dollars into them. About every two years, they bought into something new that would "transform the business".
They all followed the pattern that they required the workers, supervisors, and managers to increase the number things they were doing on the job, while increasing their work output as well (and/or increasing the quality of their work) in order to show that the millions spent weren't wasted. Always they were partnered with additional pressure from upper management leading to additional unpaid hours of work in order to create the illusion that they worked.
Good management, clearly defined goals, good supervision, employees with decent morale, weeding out the bad apples, rewarding the good apples is what companies need to excell at what they do.
I've been working in banking/insurance/data processing for what 40 years now.
