School is not a democracy.

The student is the subordinate in that relationship. Gee, I would think a conservative would be the first to see that.

The boss gives the orders, the captain runs the ship, the general runs the army, the bishop runs the diocese, and the teacher runs the classroom. Are workers, sailors, privates, priests and students ever right in a conflict with their superiors? Sure.

But its not up to them to declare independence and disrupt order and discipline by showing off in front of their peers. There are official channels for complaints like that, at the very least, he could have confronted the teacher privately and voiced his concerns without undermining her authority and respect of the class. Even the military gives you the option to speak freely, but rspectfully, to a superior officer in a man-to-man. But never in front of an audience.

Even if that teacher WAS an asshole, that kid was a punk.
