Apparently the kid had lost poth parents to tragedy- His mom was in a nursing home due to a car crash, his father had committed suicide. He apparently wasnt living with his grandfather, according to police statements, and so far they have declined to say who he was living with.

I doubt any sane person can truly 'understand' this kid's motivation for what he did- was it the Nazi website he posted to? No, I doubt it- he had to be sick before getting sucked into that garbage... was it bad parenting? Maybe- but lots of kids have lousy parents. Was it school bullying? I dont buy that either. Was he just born sick and evil? No... That doesn't seem plausible. Was he just mentally ill? That is certainly the option that is easiest for us to accept.

I guess it probably a combination of all the above and others we cant imagine.

It is a very sad situation, and sadder still that we can't seem to identify these kids before they act- yet every time something like this happens we always find warning signs that were there...
