Everyone take a good look at this image:
This is TS' brain- SEVERAL YEARS AGO, over 10, since my information times this snap-shot to sometime in the the first 7 years. Thats important, because we all know that Neural Tissues don't regenerate. This is a CT snapshot of the degeneration of the brain at most seven years into this ordeal. Chances are its only gotten worse- and as I said, science tells us it hasn't gotten better.
Notice the big void in the middle of the Cortex (or it might be said in stead of the cortex). Those are called the ventricles- they are the channels for CSF, Cerebral Spinal Fluid, that circulates through the brain and spinal column. in a healthy brain they are smaller than the tip of your finger. In this brain, huge chunks of neural matter have died and decayed, and the ventricles have expanded to replace the once-living brain matter with CSF. I found this comparison to a healthy brain with normal ventricles:
So lets assume the absolute best-case scenario that this CT is accurate to the here-and-now. This isn't an image of a disabled brain. This is the image of a brain where, bi-symmetrically (thats important, because in some cases of asymmetrical brain injury one side can compensate) massive amounts of brain tissue has died. In the first image, notice that the brain death has extended all the way into the frontal cortex, and all the way back into the hindbrain. The only thing thats left of the cortex-proper, as I understand Brain Anatomy, is a thin layer to the sides which is most likely not functional, since its missing the 'junctions' replaced by CSF. EEG tests further and decisively indicate a lack of higher brain function in general.
Lets be clear on this point. This is not the brain of disability- this is the brain of death. You are looking at cortical death. Persistent Vegetative State.
Again I urge those parties here wanting to argue the 'pro-feeding tube case' to engage on the facts. I don't see any other conclusion, based on the facts, than that TS is Cortically dead, has tragically lost all vestiges of humanity, and is little more than a brain stem. If someone, ANYONE can produce a factual case to the contrary, without ignoring sound medical science and basic laws of logic and empiricism, without invoking the massively improbable or faith, I'd love to hear it.
Otherwise its just noise.

Note on veracity: I trust the miami.edu medical ethics site, where the first brain image came from, to truthfully represent TS brain scan. The second image is a comparison off the web, that I don't innately trust. Notice, however, that the image attributed as TS brain is consistent with the trusted image, and I followed up on that healthy brain by googling up other healthy brains. The two are consistent.
