I don't put much credence in this, Lindy. I also don't believe that prayer changes the physical world in any way at all.
What I have noticed is that positive thoughts and attitudes affect people, who in turn affect the part of the world in which they live. Also, that talking to one's self in a positive way (sometimes called "prayer" when we address the talking to Someone Else) is helpful to attitude, and that various forms of meditation (also sometimes called "prayer") have positive effects not only on attitude but on some facets of health, such as blood pressure and digestion, thus contributing not only to a feeling of well-being, but to actual well-being itself.
People have enormous transformational abilities if they will only act. If they act thoughtfully, these abilities are enhanced, though only in a good way if the thoughts are both well-intentioned and correct. If their attitudes are positive, they are more prone to act, because they are more prone to believe their actions will not be useless or harmful.
Natural phenomena are what they are. Our interpretive nature places value on them. The other day, when it was raining like hell but reasonably warm, the ladies at my gym were of mixed opinion on the subject of water. Some of us were happy to see the rain, some of us (who live near the creek or the river) worried about it, some of us were grateful it wasn't snow, some of us were depressed because the sky was grey. But when I went outside, the rain didn't appear to care. It fell on the just and the unjust alike, and when it was finished, it stopped. It was entirely up to each of us whether we thought of it with a light heart.
The light that shines on us belongs to the natural world. The light that we shine on the world belongs to us.
