I'd like to think that if something (God forbid) happened to the Eiffel Tower, which I only saw in person recently, that France would rebuild it pretty much like it was, although maybe with more modern alloys or materials. To an engineer like me, it's a marvelous work of art.
So were the Twin Towers. Most of the designs to replace them were esthetic abortions.
