Isn't the current rallying cry "Moon, Mars and Beyond?" So the answer then is, after Mars we go Beyond.

Less fascitiously, perhaps we can hope to see permanent and self-sustaining settlement. To make it all the way to Mars only to turn tail and scurry home, leaving the place abandoned, would of course be a staggering disappointment. Mars, as a world, is hopefully a place where people can go and *live*, as opposed to "being stationed" there.

However, I may well be the least qualified here to speculate. What do you say, guys? After Mars, what, where, how and why? Sure, it's been discussed here before, but that's part of what this board is for, isn't it?
