No No No!

It's much easier to feed people what they want to hear. Man-made problems seem much more doable and solvable than shouting,

"You morons...we're are all gonna die and there aint a thing we can do about the sun toasting us all up like marshmallows over the fire at camp Anaconda! Why as a matter of fact...we don't even understand the regulatory process of the sun! Why it just might blow up in a big nova while wer'e all watching Desperate Houswives tonight! It is a distinct possibility. We certainly don't know why it doesn't!"

Nah. They know that wouldn't sell--much less keep their job security on an even keel. If one can't understand the sun and how it works, it's much easier writing up papers on auto emissions, particulates in the atmosphere and telling oneself one can make a difference. It's better than doing nothing right? Am I right? Hey, we must do something! Let's celebrate Earth Day!

God I feel better and safer already just knowing there's an earth day and that kids are celebrating it in schools all over the world!

Why these kids will grow up and become popular "scientists" and invent new holidays to celebrate with white papers published in SCIENCE to back them up!

Earth month! Forest week! Save a tree day! Kill the Hummer Drivers Day. Deflate the tires on SUVS week! Revel in our ignorance decade!

Yes, the temperatures will go down quickly with the new generation of heavy thinkers at work on the problem!

Alongside outlawing cars, planes and factories it would be good added insurance to bring back Akhnaten's sun worshipping and make it mandatory for everyone to spend an hour daily praying to the sun to make it cooler.

As a matter of fact there might be 'cool' new fashion side effects - women could start wearing kohl under their eyes again like they did in ancient Egypt...or the 1960's. Walking like egyptians, that sort of thing.

Yes! Akhnaten! Akhnaten! He's our man, if he can't do it Huitzilopochtli can!

Or Sapan Intiq Churin! Or someone!

PS The earth is toast. It's only a matter of time.

Stock tip: Companies that build undersea domes. Oh, and excavation equipment will also be a good bet as our great great grandchildren become mole-people to avoid the cancer inducing radiation which will blanket the surface of the earth. Radiation that will surely be blamed, even then more likely than not, on twentieth century man and his automobiles.
