When documented factual or scientific evidence conflicts with political expedience or dogma, Declare the science biased or tainted, and go with your innate bias.
Ironically, going with your innate bias is not questioned or compared with the other, more rational approach: Actually proving the facts or science invalid, fixing the science and proceeding in an informed way.
Just declare it biased in a knowing way, and proceed with whatever feels right. A few thousand dead Iraqis, or a wrecked environment is no big problem.
