Was it wrong ?

or proper? Let's assume it was wrong. Physical torture is repellant to me and I did not want to get into that argument

My question would be that if they had happened on a US soldier who was so religious that he would have broken rather than see the Bible disrespected, would it have been equally wrong to use such tactics to break him?
