Driver's license, diploma, job, insurance...

...and THEN marriage. First things first.

OK, maybe you don't need to wait for the insurance, but the others? Essential!

At 15, you would need financial support from parents (who oppose the marriage) for both you and your spouse, unless your sweetie is a legal adult, in which case you have a bunch of other problems, some of which will be with the law. Any way you look at it, it's not a happy place to be.

There is no loophole, but there is a legal remedy: You can look into having yourself declared an emancipated minor by the courts. This means you will need a lawyer, and proof that your parents are unfit in some serious way that a court will accept, such as criminal neglect or abuse. Trust me, they will not emancipate you only because your parents don't want you to marry at 15. They are more likely to shake your parents' hands for that. Older people, especially those who have had a couple of romances end badly, tend to take a more practical view of such things.

If you take the emancipation route, it will cause mega-hard feelings between you and most, if not all, of your family, whether you are successful or not. The media may cover the story, and harass your family and friends, because it makes very good gossip. And you can forget about financial assistance from your parents. They may not even send you a birthday card.

Another thing to think about: Though we hear a lot about unfaithful partners breaking up couples, the biggest reasons people break up are: money; disagreements over children; money; family interference; and money. Unless you are already independently wealthy, at 15 you will come smack up against Numbers 1, 3 & 5 on the list, and probably 4 as well. Marriage carries a lot of non-romantic nitty-gritty issues along with it. If you haven't the resources to deal with those, the honeymoon will be a short one.

Love lasts; youth doesn't. Be young first. Then be married. If your honey loves you, it's all good.
