Something to consider

I came across an interesting factoid not too long ago. It said that if people do three things, their chances of not having to live in poverty were about 85%, which is pretty good odds. The three things were:

1) Graduate high school
2) Wait until at least age 22 before getting married
3) Wait until you're married to have children.

The odds of a successful long-term marriage increase dramatically as the couple gets older. Young marriages seldom work. Once they break up, especially if children are involved, the chances that the custodial parent and the children living in poverty are alarmingly high. Being a single parent is one of the toughest things on Earth, and it's even harder if a person doesn't have marketable job skills.

My parents were married at age 18, but that was in 1946. They'd survived the Great Depression and WWII, so they weren't comperable to most modern teenagers. People had to grow up very fast back then. Even so, many marriages back then didn't work, either.

Please don't rush into anything.
