The kicker is that the things the U.S. supplied in the 1980s (not much actual physical material) that could have been made into WMD by Iraq are exactly the sorts of "dual use" items pointed out as possible parts of WMD programs by the adminstration prior to the war. These items were deemed by the Left to have no relation to WMD at all. Of COURSE pesticides were not evidence of WMD! What's WRONG with this administration!
To nail Reagan as a WMD exporter, one would have to concede that the same materials and processes (widely found in Iraq just prior to and after the start of this war), were in fact dangerous WMD materials. These included metal tubing, certain chemicals with valid uses, and biological materials ostensibly for legitimate research use.
These "dual use" materials, things that may have legitimate uses, but could also be twisted into WMD use with work, are also exactly the type of things the U.N. has reported missing.
Current Events » in reply to Iraq was in a war with Iran, I imagine we sold them lots of things.
I've read the same articles Bowser has.
