Medicare for all would be what is called a monopsony, or single buyer. Like a monopoly, it can apply pressure on costs, but in the consumers favor, not the producers favor. Obviously there are limits but clearly a monopsony would control costs much better than the current system. This isn't a theoretical construct, there are national healthcare systems throughout the developed nations of the world and ALL of them control costs better than out system with arguable equal or better healthcare results.
