There are nations where nobody is allowed to do things "for profit." How does that work out? Every place where "people have come before profits" became a hellhole.
But like I say, sell it. Go for it. Tell everyone they can have all the MRI, new drugs, lifesaving procedures, recombinant DNA, vaccines, shiny hospitals, and all the rest for free. And nobody will pay except those bastards on the hill who had the nerve to make more money than the rest of us.
Then fifty years from now, like in the old communist states or North Korea now, we'll be grubbing in the muck and told how we have the best of everything, and nothing better is, or ever was, possible. One big reason communism fell around the world was because their people could look across the walls to the lands of evil profits and rich capitalist bastards, and see for themselves.
The pity is that I'll be dragged over the cliff with the rest of the lemmings. There's no place left to go.
