Sigh, does everything *have* to be partisan, Tom, and with liberals in the wrong on *everything*? On conservative leaning boards I can find just as many conservatives who think *they* are the natural alphas -- competitive, productive, aggressive, risk-taking, etc, vs the spineless and lazy liberal herd animals. I still shudder to remember the Ayn Rand devotees I'd run into at MIT.
As for the broader point, it is a bit disturbing if true, but that doesn't affect the question of whether it is true or not. Given the emerging evidence of genetics affecting all sorts of other social and emotional tendencies, it's not implausible, but neither would I take a single study as definitive.
That issue of APSR hasn't arrived in my mailbox yet; I'll post any more detailed reactions I have after I read it.
