To oppose fusion because of the neutron activation radioactivity it can cause in reactor walls and to say it is exactly like nuclear fission demonstrates clearly their utter lack of scientific integrity and that anything like rational discourse is beyond them.
ITER will work if built properly, but it only demonstrates that fusion is a great big hulking enterprise and, in current form, will remain that way. Distributed power networks look more and more attractive, yet ITER is the exact opposite.
Shame there's not a better way.
