Its often brought up to put those know it all scientists in their place... usually the one tossing it out is an ignorant self-important fool attempting to demonstrate that his 'common sense' is still superior to those egg-head scientists...

Maybe you didnt mean it in the way it is usually used but it is a lie I particularly hate, and the fact you put science in quotes made me think that you meant it in the way I described above...
