1. Some great revelation is "discovered." It buzzes through the media and liberal blogosphere like a swarm of bees.
2. Surely THIS will be the "silver bullet" that brings down the Bush Administration!
3. The press goes into full cry! Inconvenient questions are asked at press conferences. The answers the press wants to hear ("Yes, Bush will commit seppuku at this podium tomorrow morning") are not forthcoming.
4. Stonewall! Do we smell fear at the White House? They're cornered now! The baying of the hounds becomes deafening!
5. Here and there, a few problems arise. Some inconsistencies in the story. Sources not examined closely in the rush. Something doesn't add up.
6. The problems multiply. A lot of people are looking into things now, and digging into the story from both directions, not just one. There's no "there" there.
7. The press keeps printing, but people aren't really reading now. Other things have come up. The story doesn't have anything new any more. Just repetitions of the old stuff.
8. The damn public doesn't know where its best interest lies. Why aren't they slavering over this like we are!
9. The controversy slips out of control and hits the wall. Some people who were the loudest end up looking the most foolish.
10. Muttering dark suspicions about behind-the-scenes manipulations, conspiracies, and the stupidity of the public, the media and the Democratic Party licks their wounds. Wait until next time!
