The MOF restoration center is worth a quick look. It's just a little south of Boeing's assembly plant in Everett. They're working on a De Havilland Comet and I see they've moved the Starfighter to the main museum, you've must have seen it. I think a nice addition to the museum's collection would be a Lockheed Constellation. I've never seen one up close.
About 25 minutes north of the restoration center is Paul Allan's Flying Heritage Collection. I got a chance to take an abbreviated tour last week and plan on taking the full tour soon.
Even with all this rich aviation history around the Seattle area, there is still a very large void in the hearts of us 'older' enthusiasts. We used to have the third largest International Airshow in the country. I saw things like a British Vulcan do a knife edge pass- A Harrier bow to the crowd- the SR71 and a F117 shortly after they were declassified. Not to mention the Thuderbirds flying F4's and F16's. Last I heard the show was cancelled due to noise complaints. What's next, no more Hydroplanes?
Heavy sigh.
