Sounds like you've worked on some interesting projects. Undoubtedly there are things about the current gig you can't discuss, and I"m sure that's frustrating. We all like to talk shop. I'm assuming (as it's government work) that you work in a big shop with lots of colleagues to shoot the breeze with--oh to be a fly on the wall!*
Well, I can't discuss the classified aspects of my work but that really is only a small percentage. Virtually all of my work that isn't classified is "For Official Use Only", meaning I can't really discuss it either except in broad terms.
As for my team, there are only 4 of us (and two of those are part time). We do work with other teams doing related projects, such as Single Integrated Space Picture and Space C2 Weapon System. The hard part is developing integrated architectures that seamlessly share data and processes. In that regard, we're on the bleeding edge.
We do have some good conversations about space technology and where we're trying to go with system development. It's hard to describe just how badly the current way of doing things is broken.
