at graduate level, eg wrote a program to solve and plot the modes of a vibrating string of specified length, mass and density .. the core of the program was a diagonal matrix solver module lifted straight out of 'Numerical Recipes' ..

seems over the next few years though it'll be PASCAL for numerical relativity .. I now believe that when in supervisor-land, do as the supervisors do (makes life easier and probably makes sense too)
