THIS will be the Shuttle's last hurray!
A fortuitous piece of foam! No harm done to Discovery but my bet is it will spell the end of the shuttle program! The only way to solve the foam problem is to put the shuttle on top instead of strapped to the side. It's impossible so the program is likely history!
I can see Mike Griffin thinking of all those Shuttle billions going into rapid CEV and HLLV development. This is the perfect opportunity to retire the fleet and move fast on the replacement. One can only hope!
Btw, I'm sure you meant Columbia, not Challenger.
