Yeah, I've been through this dance before.

Somehow, I seem to be the only one who has ever seen Marxists on university campuses. Maybe we're setting the bar too high around here...jjust for the record, they don't actually have to have a bust of Marx on their desk, or be wearing beards and black berets.

If a professor advocated racial purity, the supremacy of the European race, and hostility to the Jews, I doubt that he would be tolerated by the academic community simply because he was not an official member of the Nazi Party or did not have a picture of Hitler on his wall.

I have personal experience only with the University of Minnesota and Stanford, the former during the latter days of the Vietnam War, including the bombing of Cambodia. Believe me, while there weren't any professors running around with COMMIE on their shirts, they weren't hard to spot. The ones at the microphones at the protests and rallies. The ones with the posters and stickers on and around their office doors, most of them opposing pretty much anything America did, while promoting (if not worshiping) pretty much any Soviet-backed revolutionary buttmonkey that popped up in the Third World.

Students marched around carrying signs about "American Imperialists" and "Struggle." Indoctrination by professors? No direct evidence that I ever saw, but this student behavior is at least as convincing a piece of circumstantial evidence as a trout in the milk would be. I doubt many of them picked up such phrases back on their parent's farms.

This anti-American crap continued through the 80s and beyond.

It was less activist than the U. of M. when I was at Stanford--no war at the time--but the protests still brought out the same professors and the same hoary leftist ideas, pumped into the heads of young people.

Ah well. Whatever.

I still find it highly amusing that the same people who think civilization will fall if a creationist sneaks into our educational system, treat the presence of teachers who advocate Marxist ideas (ideas that have destroyed every nation that adopted them and killed more human beings than any other philosophy in recorded history) with (as Robert put it) a yawn.
