Reality

Step one is to get past all the crap about this being about colonialism, occupation, or anything other than the hostility toward Jews having a nation in the Middle East.

Jordan is no older than Israel, and was created out of the same whole cloth, yet I have seen few objections towards its existence as a legitimate nation.

Lebanon was occupied by Syria for years. How often did this come up in the U.N.? How many protests did you see with signs saying "Syria out of Lebanon?"

This isn't about occupation. It's about Jews. Once everyone gets past that little subterfuge, maybe we can come up with some real answers.

The Arab world launched three wars of extermination against Israel. They lost. These wars have been largely written out of history.

The Palestinians are not an "occupied people." They were created and lovingly nurtured by the Arab world with false promises, abuse, discrimination, exile, and refusal to allow their assimilation into Arab nations over six decades. The result is pretty much what you would expect: a group of angry and bitter people, directed as cannon fodder toward Israel by Arabs who have better things to do.

I don't have easy answers, but discarding the illusions is the first step.
