I think more context and history is needed to judge fairly

For example, yes, some "Palestinian" Arabs at the time were forcefully removed from their land when Israel was created, while others were given the option of staying and retaining ownership, but chose to leave. OTOH, from 1948, as many as 900,000 Jews were made refugees themselves, expelled from other parts of the Middle East simply for being Jewish. Their land was taken, too. No, I am NOT arguing two wrongs make a right.

If you want to criticise the actions of the Jewish state/Israeli government, I think you have to be equally critical of the actions of various Arab states. Arabs in Israel today are still treated better (and not just marginally better, but substantially better) than Jews in Arab states. Again, that doesn't mean just being better is good enough, but you really have to keep perspective.

I still tend to view the Jews more as the victims than the Palestinians. I also don't see as much evidence of religious fundamentalism and "We are the Chosen Ones" syndrome on the part of the Israeli Jews as I do on the part of Palestinian Arabs/Muslims. There seems to be more willingness to live alongside each other from Israelis than from Arabs from my perspective. I don't see both "sides" as "equally" bad or culpable, but the Arab/Muslim side acting more out of malice, hatred, stupidity, bigotry etc. than the Israeli/Jewish side.

Just my opinion, it's not a thesis.
