I know more than a little bit about disaster preparedness...I've handled statewide flooding crises, wildfire disasters, major earthquakes, and massive landslides. I know what it takes to plan for, prepare for, and respond to major natural disaster.

Federal officials knew full well days before the hurricane hit that this was going to be a disaster of epic proportions and they failed to mobilize resources to be positioned to respond. George Bush was playing golf in Texas while New Orleans was being swamped. That's not what leaders are supposed to do in times of national crises. Instead of calcualting his handicap, Mr. Bush should have been making assurances that national guard and federal response agencies were ready to to deliver food, water, clothing and assistance to the victims. My remarks have nothing to do with "leftist memes" or partisan politics. My problem is that we have an incompetent in the White House with misplaced priorities. The people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are suffering the consequences. This disaster is going to make 9/11 look like a cake walk and our federal government wasn't ready to deal with it. Its a friggin' mess.
