re: Correcting the record

OK I'm going on record as saying Bush was poorly prepeared yet again. He wasn't prepared for 911. He wasn't prepared well for the aftermath of the gulf war, and he wasn't prepared for this. He has a record ignoring long term problems related to the environement. He should have had contigency plans in place given the magnitude of the worst case disaster. Turns out they were conservative. The hurricane was weaker than the worst case yet did almost as much damage.

The thing is the Democrats don't much better of a record. Clinton contributed to 911 by his weak response to Alquieda and he did little during most of his two terms to increase fuel efficiency or take other actions to reduce global warming. The Gulf coast building binge occurred during Clinton's terms. New Orleans has been sinking long before Bush or Clinton took office.

This country has a problem across its politcal spectrum with dealing with costly long term solutions to theoretical problems. Look at social security and Medicare. For the most part they are like Bush, they respond when slapped in the face. There are plenty on the other side that don't even respond then.

It's not a time for partisan bickering. It's time to realize that as a nation we need to quit dodging long term issues.

Regards,
Mark
