Bon voyage amigo.

See you next week and good luck.

I just saw the post on Matagorda. I've been in Port O'Conner and spent some time camping on Matagorda Island at the state park. Both nights, there were VERY severe thunderstorms that moved from central Texas out over the gulf. One woke us up at midnight, the other kept me up all night, as I watched it flow into the gulf.

It was the most amazing display of constant lightning that I've ever seen. Like paparazzi flashbulbs when Britteny Spears emerges from a Krispy Kreme, licking her fingers...

I've also been to Galveston. I can't imagine a more frightning, and fundamentally dangerous place than a barrier island, during one of these storms. A few feet above sea level and made of sand.

Houston won't be a picnic either. They're making progress in the civil works for the removal of rainwater, but if this monster stalls upstream, this could result in flooding much like TD Allison did, with excessive wind dammage to boot.

Two monster hurricanes are definately worse than one, but this time we're awake and aware.
