Halfway competent

Well, as you might already know, the documentation doesn't really back up the premise that the government screwed up that badly, but I don't really want to go over all that again. Took me most of a thread elsewhere just to beat one myth to death, and it was still wiggling when I left.

You know, I can't speak for you, but it's amazing how many people I've talked to about this kind of thing who complain about how the government screws up everything they touch, and two minutes later they're saying that the best way to fix a problem is to turn it over to the government.

Health care is the best example that comes to mind.

Tell you what: you go into our government, and start ticking off the number of people who have their positions because they know somebody, not because they have any real skills in what they do. You think this is something new?

Hell, most of our elected politicians are lawyers who are in office primarily because they talk pretty.
