is not in itself a good argument against CP. We allow many things that result in innocent death because they provide some benefit. Commercial flights are one example.
Larry Niven has written of a future where CP is commonplace for minor crimes, in order to harvest organs for transplant. I don't agree with that but it would at least be of some benefit to society.
CP is fundamentally wrong because it is worthless as a deterrent, it is inhumane and it is often insufficient punishment. I would favor CP if it could be proven to have one iota of value as a deterrent.
I don't buy into the argument of possible release. If we can take a life we can resolve to keep someone incarcerated with no possibility of release.
For the most heinous crimes, no rehabilitation, no release, just total isolation and perhaps the option of suicide after some lengthy period. Suicide hearings could replace parole hearings.

executing an innocent...

- How many here think this guy was the ONLY one: "Executed man may have been innocent"
- More from the great chitty of Houston.
- There would be a lot less support for the death penalty...
- executing an innocent...
- Not hardly
- If Jaun Moreno lied under oath, and that testimony led to the execution of an innocent man, then Jaun Moreno should be charged with Capital Murder
- Death should be an option, but in only one circumstance.
