So, it seems that all this new information can be interpeted differently by various scientists.
Water, Ice, Wet, Warm, Cold, Dry, Damp. Extinct, Extant
We need to establish a physical presence there to perform the real science with real samples and see wth our own eyes what it is really like on or under the surface of Mars (not to mention what may await us for discovery in the deep trenches and vast cave systems). I doubt we can draw too many more universally accepted or at least convincing conclusions until then.
