Seems plausible
I used to be a "warm and wet" fan. And I was fascinated with Nick's "White Mars" hypothesis. But "occasionally soaked and always cold" does seem a more apt description.
I think we're getting closer to what this is all about.
I also think these findings make it less likely that we'll find extinct or extant microbial life on Mars.
