Spending going up continuously does not equate to continuous recklessness. Deficits went' down under Clinton/Republican Congress and ended in surplus. We went from surplus to huge deficits under Bush/Republican rich butt kiss party. That's a qualitative as well as quantitative difference. Increases in spending are relatively neutral in impact if matched with domestic economic growth. It's only when you choose to grow expenditures faster than revenue that you are behaving like reckless selfish bastards.
