I'm not enraged by anyone assigning abuse of power to Bush, rather I am simply aware of the distortion being played out for political reasons.
The public generally is not thinking about how the NSA or CIA conducts its investigations and surveillance, nor the crossover that exists when foreign nationals visit or reside on our soil.
To me this issue is comparable if the media started pointing out to someone who lives in Oregon, that the Border Patrol had checkpoints on various southern California freeways where they slow down traffic and would look into your vehicle and see if you were harboring illegal aliens. It has always gone on, just never really been announced so as not to avert traffic to other regions.
"Invasive domestic searching & profiling occurs on US Freeways under Bush administration!" or "Vehicle privacy compromised by Bush administration" and similar attention grabbing titles can be used to describe something that has gone on for decades. To the uninformed, especially the uninformed with a political agenda, such a media 'revelation' is the new bombshell. When, in reality, is nothing other than scaring an ignorant portion of the populace for political reasons.
They jump and dance on cue pulled by media puppet strings who are immensely proud of their accomplishments at shaping public opinion, and influencing government and the people.
That saddens me. Seeing folks led by a pied piper who only seeks gold and glory and who regularly leads the village children to the intellectual abyss where they proceed to drown themselves because they hear the compelling music that sounds so fine to their little ears.
