Not sure I'd feel entirely secure being an atheist guest speaker in a mosque although I have the feeling that there'd be many where it'd be completely safe. However, before you place the spector of head chopping and atrocious acts only upon the Muslims you might want to study some Christian history. Extremists exist in all cultures and religions. All it takes is irrational fear or economic depression within a society to push any ideology past that breaking point. The people of Germany morphed from a civilized society into an irrational mob. Most of us in America today have the same blood in our veins as those people did, the same basic human traits, and ability to allow our animal side to come through.
Don't ever believe that under the right conditions and upbringing, the hand on the knife of the executioner couldn't have been yours.
